A Day to Remember at Sheldrick Trust Nairobi

Not too long ago, we had the chance to visit Sheldrick Trust for a private tour, and wow, what an experience it was! For those who might not know, the Sheldrick Trust is all about rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned elephants and rhinos in Kenya. Their mission is truly inspiring, and as huge animal lovers, this visit meant the world to us at Galleria Villabruna.

We had visited Sheldrick a few years back on a public tour and were completely blown away. The keepers shared touching stories of the orphans, and watching the baby elephants gulp down their milk was just heartwarming. These little ones are so playful, and if you're lucky, you might even get to touch them! If you ever find yourself in Nairobi, visiting Sheldrick Trust should be at the top of your list.

This time, our excitement was through the roof as we headed out for a private tour, despite just landing in Nairobi. The drive through Nairobi National Park was beautiful, and paying the park entry online beforehand made things super smooth. Once we arrived at Sheldrick, we were greeted warmly and introduced to the orphans.

What made this visit special was the chance to interact with the elephants without any barriers. After their feeding, we spent an hour with these adorable orphans. Some were cheeky, giving us little nudges, while others were gentle, exploring us with their trunks. We were there with our cameras, ready to capture every moment, but honestly, the experience was so overwhelming that we just had to put them down and soak it all in. It was one of those moments where you just had to be present.

After the elephants departed, we met Raha, a sweet little black rhino who instantly stole our hearts. She was shy but so peaceful, loving the attention and gentle touches. Being up close and personal with these incredible animals was an experience we'll cherish forever.
